IÖW/future-Ranking of major German companies

The IÖW/future ranking evaluates the reports of Germany’s 150 largest industrial and service enterprises. The selection is based on the list of the top 500 companies compiled by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ; as of July 2009).

The ranking covers:

• the 100 largest industrial enterprises and service-providers, measured by turnover
• the 15 largest banks, measured by total assets
• the 15 largest insurance firms, measured by total premiums
• the 20 largest trade companies, measured by turnover.

Subject of Evaluation

The subject of evaluation consists of independent environmental, sustainability and CSR reports or comparable company reports which refer to the entire company and a clear reporting period. Every company in the Top 150 which publishes a corresponding report is therefore included in the evaluation as a “reporter”.
